Workshop Information

This workshop is organized in the framework of the projects SOLARIZE and STT4SET , which address complementary aspects of the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) for Solar Thermal Technologies (STT). SOLARIZE focuses on actions related to Concentrated Solar Thermal (CST) research infrastructures, while STT4SET has a wider scope that integrates Non-Concentrating Solar Thermal (NCST) and CST technologies R&I actions that support overarching decarbonization goals of the European Union.

The workshop will focus on CST technologies, as the NCST will be covered in separate events.

Experts will present progress towards the development and implementation of the STT SRIA, such as the preparation of the STT Thematic Vision, which entails short-, mid- and long-term goals for advancing these technologies to the level of maturity required for them to become a substantial component of the future energy mix in Europe and to strengthen their competitiveness in international markets.

The current draft of the STT SRIA will be presented, with particular attention given to CST actions where stakeholders’ inputs can help make the final document more inclusive, relevant and user-oriented.

A round-table discussion will bring together experts involved in drafting the SRIA and stakeholders from research, industry and policy to share perspectives on topics such as:

• The actions needed to reach the goals defined in the Thematic Vision.
• The boundary conditions required to realize the proposed research and demonstration projects.
• The synergies with other technologies that can support the achievement of European decarbonization goals.
• Additional topics or perspectives that may not have been considered by the SRIA working team yet.
