SOLARIZE Workshop: CST Components Lifetime & Maintenance

This SOLARIZE workshop will bring together industrial operators, manufacturers and researchers to address lifetime, durability and maintenance challenges for Concentrating Solar Thermal components and materials.

Date 9 July 2026
Time 10:30 – 12:30 CEST
Participation Free online
Registration Open through the online form

About the workshop

Participants will gain insights into the operational efforts and trade-offs involved in running a CST plant, from design to daily maintenance, with the aim of reducing costs, maximising availability and ensuring sustainable operation.

The workshop will help bridge the gap between research and industry and contribute to driving the next generation of CST technologies in Europe.

Key highlights

Industrial case study

eLlo, operator of France’s 10 MWe Fresnel plant with direct steam generation and thermal storage, will share seven years of operational data, lessons learned and maintenance strategies.

State-of-the-art R&D

The workshop will provide an overview of the latest advancements in component ageing and materials, supported by the European research infrastructure network EU-SOLARIS ERIC, including PROMES-CNRS.

Industry-academia collaboration

A dedicated round-table will help align priority research areas and foster partnerships to shape the future of Concentrating Solar Thermal technologies in Europe.

Focus areas

  • Design: balancing durability, performance and cost.
  • Operation & Maintenance: practical examples for reliability and efficiency.
  • Cost-effectiveness: example pathway to economic viability.
