June 2, 2026The SOLARIZE Mobility Programme continues to foster international collaboration and support researchers in strengthening their scientific careers through transnational mobility, experimental research activities, and interaction with leading research teams.
Within this framework Dr. Max Pargmann, from the German Aerospace Center (DLR), recently completed a research stay at the Centre for Renewable Energy Sources and Saving (CRES) in Greece, which concluded at the end of last February. During the mobility period, he carried out his work under the guidance of Dr. Evangelos Rikos while also collaborating closely with Dr. Vasiliki Drosou throughout the stay.
The researcher worked on the development and validation of control systems for a solar tracker, gaining hands-on experience in embedded programming, real-time system management, and hardware simulation for safe deployment and testing.
When reflecting on his participation in the programme, the researcher highlighted that one of his main motivations was the opportunity to establish and strengthen an international scientific network. The researcher particularly highlighted the support received throughout the stay. He expressed his gratitude to Dr. Evangelos Riko for the dedicated supervision and continuous knowledge sharing during the project. He also emphasized the opportunity to connect with Dr. Vasiliki Drosou, noting that their expertise and professional network opened the door to potential future collaborations.
Regarding the mobility stay itself, he described the experience as highly valuable, particularly due to the combination of hardware-level programming activities and the opportunity to build professional connections within the research community. According to him, this balance between technical development and networking allowed him to gain new expertise while simultaneously expanding his international research network.
Overall, the researcher positively assessed the experience and stated that he would strongly recommend the programme to other researchers, especially because of the professional and scientific benefits gained throughout the mobility stay.
